Abstrak
This study aims to analyze fashion terms in Harper’s Bazaar articles translated from English into Indonesian, focusing on phrase structure, translation techniques, and the readability quality of the translation. The data were taken from fashion articles published between March and April 2025. Based on Bas Aarts’ (2011) phrase classification, five types of phrases were identified, with noun phrases being the most dominant (93.21%). Translation techniques were analyzed using the framework of Molina and Albir (2002), while translation quality was assessed using Nababan, Nuraeni, and Sumardiono’s (2012) model, with a specific focus on readability. The findings show that literal translation was the most frequently applied technique (31.82%), but it did not always result in high readability. In contrast, techniques such as establish equivalent and modulation tended to produce more comprehensible translations. The overall average readability score was 2.54, indicating a generally readable translation, though some areas require improvement. This research contributes to translation studies by linking grammatical phrase structure to translation strategy and its impact on readability in fashion discourse.
