TRANSLATION QUALITY OF CONNOTATIVE MEANING IN INDONESIA 2024 ELECTION NEWS PUBLISHED BY OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF MKRI.ID

This research analyses the Indonesian-English translation in journalistic text published by the Constitutional Court Online Newspaper through MKRI.ID website. This research was conducted to analyze the use of connotative meaning and its categories, such as positive, neutral, and negative
connotations, in journalistic text published by MKRI.ID website about Indonesia 2024 election news from October 2023 to April 2024. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. This study found that negative connotation is the dominant phrase containing connotative meaning with 13 data, neutral connotation is in the second place with 7 data, and lastly, positive connotation with 5 data. This result is due to the characteristics of the election where crimes such as fraud, manipulation, cybercrime, etc. are often encountered. This study also provides a detailed explanation of the
connotation branch of each category of connotative meaning, which resulting the difference between Eastern (Indonesian Language) and Western (English) cultures in the linguistic field, especially in the usage of connotative meaning. The translation quality used in this study refers to Nababan’s theory, which shows that the overall quality of accuracy, acceptability, and readability has reached a 2.92 score, which is considered to have a high translation quality.
