COMPARATIVE ERROR ANALYSIS BETWEEN GOOGLE TRANSLATE AND DEEPL IN TRANSLATION QUALITY OF ‘PERATURAN MENTERI ENERGI DAN SUMBER DAYA MINERAL NOMOR 11 TAHUN 2021

This study analyzes the types of errors and translation quality in the parameter of accuracy and acceptability of ‘Peraturan Menteri Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral Nomor 11 Tahun 2021’ translated by using Google Translate and DeepL. This study uses the descriptive qualitative method as the aims to
classify the translation errors and to find out which one is the less error between Google Translate and DeepL in translating legal document by applying the theory of Wang (2013) and for the quality assessment applies the theory of Nababan, et. al (2012) of acceptability and accuracy parameter. The data
consists of 100 complete legal sentences from the Chapter 1 and Chapter of Peraturan Menteri Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral Nomor 11 Tahun 2021. The study reveals that Google Translate frequently makes significant grammatical and cultural errors, leading to inconsistent translations, while
DeepL faces more challenges with cultural errors. DeepL is rated higher in accuracy and acceptability compared to Google Translate, but both are deemed inadequate as supplementary tools for legal translation.
