Abstrak

This research aims to identify the types of declarative sentences containing expressions of feelings in the children’s books "Try and Stick with It" and "Understand and Care", Translation Techniques used in these books, and to determine the readability of the translation. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method. The data collection techniques used were content analysis and forum group discussion. In this study, 51 data were found, including declarative sentences containing expressions of faith with 21 data or 41%, declarative sentences containing expressions of supposition or parable with 17 data or 33%, declarative sentences containing expressions of love with 6 data or 12%, declarative sentences containing expressions of hope with 3 data or 6%, declarative sentences containing expressions of advice or warning with 2 data or 4%, and declarative sentences containing expressions of worries with 2 data or 4%. From these 51 data, translation techniques were also found, including Established Equivalence with 21 data or 32%, Literal Translation with 14 data or 22%, Linguistic Amplification with 9 data or 14%, Transposition with 9 data or 14%, Reduction with 5 data or 8%, Modulation with 4 data or 6%, and Amplification with 3 data or 5%. The readability level of this study has an average value of 2.63 with a readable percentage of 71% with 36 data, less readable by 22% with 11 data, and unreadable by 8% with 4 data. The results of this study show that there are some sentences that have less appropriate word choices or incomprehensible word choices, which affects the quality of readability and makes the reader have to read the sentence repeatedly to understand the message conveyed.
