Abstrak

This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to identify the types of verb phrases in the Ma Operating System User Guide, analyze the translation techniques used, and assess aspects of the accuracy of the translation with a focus on verb phrases. This research discusses translation techniques for verb phrases and accuracy. In this research work, the analysis of word phrases refers to the theory of Widjono (2007) of which there are three types, while the translation analysis technique refers to the theory put forward by Molina and Albir (2002) which includes 18 translation techniques and assessment in terms of cultural accuracy is based on the theory Nababan (2012). Focus group discussion (FGD) sessions were used to collect data which was then analyzed using Spradley's theory. The primary data sources in this study were obtained from English and Indonesian translation Mac user guides, data analysis of translation techniques and the results of the rater's translation quality assessment. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from previous research findings, expert studies and web articles. In this study, 90 data were obtained and classified into 3 types of verb phrases: 61.12% of the types of modified verb phrases, 38.88% of the types of coordinating verb phrases, and 0% of the data types of appositive verb phrases. There are four translation techniques used, including 90% of the literal translation, 8% of the established equivalent, 1% of the amplification and reduction. The FGD results show that the translation of verb phrases in this user guide is relatively accurate in the target language, with an accuracy score of 2.85.
