AN ANALYSIS OF TRANSLATION TECHNIQUES AND READABILITY OF NOUN PHRASE IN THE CABINET SECRETARIAT WEBSITE NEWS TEXT

The translation of noun phrases is an interesting linguistic phenomenon because Indonesian and English have different noun phrase structures. This research aims to define the form of the noun phrase in Indonesian and its translation in English, as well as discuss the techniques and readability aspects of the translation in the news text on the Cabinet Secretariat website. Linguistic units were analyze noun phrases existing in The News Texts of The Cabinet Secretariat Website dated February 6th, 2023. The research method used to uncover research questions is a descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique used is content analysis and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). After the data is collected, the data were analyze using the domain analysis, taxonomy analysis, componential analysis and cultural theme analysis. The The study reveals that types of noun phrases mostly found in this study are modification noun phrases with 90 data or 82% of 110 noun phrases, the second is coordinative noun phrases of 15 data or 14% and the least is appositive noun phrases of 5 data or 4%. The most commonly translated technique was established equivalent to 60 data or 55% of 110 noun phrases and reduction with 18 data or 16% of 110 noun phrases. The quality aspect of the readability of the translation was on the score of 2.8. It indicates that the translator has been able to convey information clearly and effectively, using simple sentence structures and easily understandable words for readers.
