Abstrak
This study analyzes the translation techniques and quality of political terms in 7 The Conversation Indonesia news website articles. A descriptive qualitative study method is utilized to analyze how the political terms is translated and to qualify the translation accuracy of the political terms. This study identifies the political terms in the news articles, identifies and analyze the applied translation technique based on Molina and Albir’s theory, and assess the translation accuracy of the political terms based on Nababan’s theory. From this study, it is identified that there are 10 translation techniques applied by the translator which are established quivalent technique as the most frequently used translation technique that are used in 36 data which are 33% of the total amount of data followed by literal technique used in 28 data which are 24% of the total amount of data and naturalized borrowing that are used in 20 data which are 18% of the total amount of data. The less frequently used translation techniques are adaptation technique used in 6 data which are only 5% of the total amount of data followed with description and particularization with each only used in 4% of the total data, and discursive creation, generalization and reduction that are only stands up in 3% each in the total data, and at last are pure borrowing with only 1% each in the total data. The translation accuracy based on the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) by utilizing Nababan’s theory shows at the score of 2,77% which means it is translated accurately in the target language. The translation quality is considered accurate because the applied translation technique creates an accurate translation that conveys the message with less distortion.
