Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the social security terminology used on the official website of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan focusing on types of terminology, translation shifts, and translation accuracy in the Indonesian-to-English translation of the website content. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using Cabré’s (1999) conceptual classification of terminology, Catford’s (1965) translation shift theory, and Nababan et al.’s (2012) translation quality assessment model. The data consisted of 103 social security terminological units collected from the participant information and claim procedure sections of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan website. The findings revealed that Entities was the most dominant terminology type. In terms of translation shifts, Structure Shift was identified as the most frequent shift, indicating the influence of grammatical differences between Indonesian and English. Regarding translation accuracy, the overall score was 2.49 placing the translations in the Less Accurate category. The findings indicate that not all shift types equally affect translation accuracy, Structure Shift does not systematically reduce accuracy, whereas Intra-System Shift is the shift type most consistently associated with reduced translation accuracy due to terminological divergence from internationally recognized social security standards.
