Abstrak
This study aims to analyze the types of interrogative sentences, translation strategies, and translation accuracy of interrogative sentences in the subtitles of KPop Demon Hunters. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study examined 116 interrogative sentences taken from the official English subtitles and their Indonesian translations. The data were analyzed using Quirk et al.’s (1985) classification of interrogative sentences, Gottlieb’s (1992) translation strategies, and Nababan et al.’s (2012) translation accuracy assessment. The findings show that wh-questions and yes-no questions each occurred 58 times. Five translation strategies were identified, namely condensation, transfer, paraphrase, deletion, and decimation, with condensation being the most dominant strategy. The accuracy assessment revealed that 91 translations were categorized as Accurate, 20 as Less Accurate, and 5 as Not Accurate, resulting in an average score of 2.74. These findings indicate that the Indonesian subtitles of KPop Demon Hunters generally convey the meanings of interrogative sentences accurately and that the choice of translation strategy significantly influences translation accuracy.
