Abstrak

The study aims to discuss the types of directive speech acts, the translation techniques, and the quality of translation in the readability aspect of the 2019 Aladdin film. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The translation technique used refers to the theory of Molina & Albir, and the quality of readability translation refers to the Nababan’s assessment model. The data collection method used is content analysis and focus group discussion. The result of this study are found the type of directive speech acts of 100 data, including types of directive speech acts commanding totalling 49 data or 49%, inviting totalling 3 data or 3%, forbidding 10 data or 10%, requesting totalling 11 data or 11%, and suggesting totalling 27 data or 27 %. There are 10 translation techniques used in this study, namely amplification, calque, discursive creations, establish equivalent, generalization, linguistic compression, literal translation, modulation, reduction, and transposition. The most common translation technique found is literal translation technique. The result of the readability translation quality of research data has an average readability of 2.65. This average indicates that the translation result has been assessed as readable.
