Abstrak

This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method to identify the appearance of categories of cultural terms, the translation techniques used, and the quality of the translation in the children's story book "Antologi Cerita Anak Indonesia" by the Agency for Language Development and Cultivation in 2022. This research refers to several theories to obtain accurate results. In analyzing translation techniques, researcher use the theory of Molina and Albir (2002). The results of the quality of translation in the aspects of accuracy and acceptability were obtained through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with ratters which referred to the parameters for assessing the quality of translation proposed by Nababan, Nuraeni, and Sumardiono (2012). Based on research conducted using the analysis model of Spradley (1980), it was found that there were 132 data on cultural terms in the book " Antologi Cerita Anak Indonesia" which were classified into 5 types of cultural terms based on Newmark’s theory (1988); 77 data types of material culture, 45 data types of social culture, 5 organization data, 4 ecological data, 1 gestures and habits data. There are 8 types of techniques which are divided into two variants, single translation technique with 98 (74%) data and double translation technique with 34 (26%) data. The techniques used include pure borrowing, reduction, established equivalent, discursive creation, amplification, description, adaptation, modulation. The most dominant technique used in the single translation technique variant is pure borrowing with a frequency of 41 data (31%) and in the double translation technique is pure borrowing & description with a frequency of 24 data (18%). The quality of the translation of cultural terms in this book is classified as accurate and acceptable with an accumulated translation quality score of 2.65 with a detailed assessment of the accuracy aspect of 2.87 and the acceptability aspect of 2.33.
