Abstrak
This study aims to identify the types of expressive utterances found in the subtitle
of One Piece Live Action Season 1, analyze the pragmatic shifts that occur in the
translation process, and assess the translation accuracy of the expressive utterances.
This study employs a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected from
the English and Indonesian subtitles of One Piece Live Action Season 1 Episode 1
8. The analysis was conducted using Searle's (1976) classification of expressive
speech acts to identify the types, Baker's (2011) framework of pragmatic
equivalence to analyze pragmatic shift, and Nababan et al.'s (2012) parameters to
assess translation accuracy. The findings reveal that 115 expressive utterances were
identified, spanning ten categories, with expressing emotions (30.4%) and praising
(22.6%) as the dominant types. Regarding pragmatic shift, only 6 out of 115
utterances (5.2%) underwent a pragmatic shift, predominantly caused by the
translator's tendency to focus on the surface meaning of utterances without inferring
their implied communicative intention. In terms of translation accuracy, the
assessment yielded an average score of 2.46 out of 3, with 70 utterances (60.9%)
categorized as accurate, 28 utterances (24.3%) as less accurate, and 17 utterances
(14.8%) as inaccurate.
