Abstrak

Flexible pavement, specifically the Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC-WC) layer, is widely used in Indonesia as a protective surface layer against traffic loads. however, permanent deformation (rutting) frequently occurs due to repetitive loading and suboptimal mixture performance. One innovation addressing this issue is Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA), which is produced at lower temperatures, making it more efficient and environmentally friendly. Since reduced temperatures can potentially affect the mixture's mechanical performance, this study utilized the additive ZTA-RA at dosages of 0.3%, 0.5%, and 0.7% to enhance the mixture's durability. This study aimed to analyze the effect of adding ZTA-RA on the resilient modulus of AC-WC warm mix asphalt. Laboratory experimental methods adhered to the 2018 Bina Marga General Specifications (Revision 2), encompassing material characterization, Marshall testing, and UMATTA (Universal Material Testing Apparatus) testing. The results indicate that the addition of ZTA-RA improved mixture performance, meeting specification criteria. Marshall testing identified an optimum additive dosage of 0.425%, yielding a VFA of 75.26%, Stability of 836.23 kg, Flow of 3.72 mm, and Marshall Quotient (MQ) of 228.58 kg/mm. UMATTA testing demonstrated an increase in resilient modulus values, particularly at 45°C, with stiffness reaching 839.67 MPa. These results indicate that, at a laboratory scale, ZTA-RA is effective in enhancing resistance to permanent deformation in AC-WC warm mix asphalt.
